Swallowing difficulty

  • Sore throat in adults

A sore throat is normally a symptom of an infection such as the common cold and may be accompanied by other symptoms:

    • tender, swollen glands in the neck, or
    • difficulty swallowing
  • Sore throat in children

Sore throats are more common among children.

This is because young people have not built up immunity against many of the viruses and bacteria that can cause sore throats.

  • Toothache

Toothache is pain in the area of your jaw and face. It can be very painful, especially if the area becomes infected.

Toothache can also be the result of tooth decay, or a loose or broken filling.
