Key priority areas

Key priority areas

As a result of the 2004 consultation to develop new UK sustainable development strategy the following issues have been highlighted as the main priority areas for immediate action. They will aid UK policy making and implementation both domestically and internationally. This page provides a gateway to further information on these areas.

In addition to these four priorities changing behaviour forms a large part of the Governments thinking on sustainable development. A cross cutting priority, it provides the rationale and guidance on how Government intend to encourage more sustainable behaviour.

Securing the Future also identifies wellbeing as being at the heart of sustainable development.
