About us

Home Office headquarters energy use

The Home Office is committed to meeting the Prime Minister’s pledge to make this government the greenest government ever. As part of this commitment, we will be publishing figures on our real-time energy consumption.

Welcome to the Home Office’s 'live' energy data page. It has been created in support of the Prime Minister’s pledge that this government will be the greenest ever, and for the headquarter buildings of government departments to publish online real-time energy use.

The Home Office is one of the first in government to provide public access to its live energy data. You can view energy consumption, cost and carbon dioxide emissions over different periods of time by using the drop down menu on the live energy data page (new window).

We are also providing the raw energy consumption data, which is compiled once every 24 hours, in a format we hope you will find useful and will want to re-use.

We are happy to respond to any queries you have regarding our live energy data and our carbon reduction work. We would very much appreciate your feedback. Your views will help influence the way in which this work is developed both in this department and across the whole of government.

To offer your views or raise queries please email the department’s sustainability team.

10% reduction

The Prime Minister has also said that carbon emissions from central government will be cut by 10% within the next 12 months. In the Home Office we are working with our staff, facility management and other suppliers and the Carbon Trust to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions and lower our costs. More information on this will be made available soon.
