Personal Best is a training and volunteer programme aimed at helping unemployed people into long-term sutainable jobs, and motivating people to volunteer to help with the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

Who is it for?

People who are not in work or education but would like to gain opportunities to volunteer in their community and at the same time improve their skills and chances of getting a job.

How are we doing it?

Recruiting suitable participants to the programme, offering training, guidance, support, volunteering and employment opportunities.

What are the benefits?

Sustainable employment for Londoners, and skilled volunteers for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Why is the LDA involved?

To get out-of-work Londoners back into work, and encourage them to gain skills and improve their chances of getting a job.

Do your Personal Best

Personal Best is a training and volunteering programme for people who are not in work or education, but would like to gain opportunities to volunteer in their community and at the same time improve their skills and chances of getting a job.

Personal Best aims to encourage people into training to boost their confidence, and volunteer to gain work experience, using the excitement surrounding the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. All graduates of Personal Best who successfully apply for a Games Time Volunteer role will be guaranteed an interview.

Olympic Volunteers

London 2012 will depend on up to 70,000 volunteers to make sure the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games run smoothly and successfully. Volunteers will carry out a range of essential tasks, from spectator services to language services and medical care. It is hoped that up to 10% of these volunteers will be graduates of Personal Best.
