Archives accepted in lieu of tax

Archives accepted in lieu of tax: family and estate papers of the Harcourt family, Viscounts Harcourt, and papers of Sir Richard Francis Burton, explorer

The government has accepted the following collections of papers in lieu of tax:

Family and estate papers 13th - 20th century, of the Harcourt family, Viscounts Harcourt. They include papers of Sir William Harcourt (1827-1904) and his son Lewis Harcourt (1863-1922), 1st Viscount Harcourt, and papers of the earlier Earls Harcourt

Correspondence and papers of Sir Richard Francis Burton (1821-1890), explorer and diplomat

Any library, record office or analogous institution in the United Kingdom interested in being allocated any of these collections of papers should contact the Principal, Archives Advisory Services, National Advisory Services, The National Archives, Ruskin Avenue, Kew TW9 4DU (email: nas@nationalarchives.gov.uk) for further particulars in the first instance. Applications for allocation of this material must be received in writing at the same address by 28 September 2007.
