Non-parochial, foreign and maritime Births, Marriages and Deaths digitisation project

23 February 2007

Under the Licensed Internet Associateship scheme The National Archives has signed a license with Genealogy Supplies Limited to scan the existing microform and place online the following series records:

RG 4, RG 5, RG 6, RG 7, RG 8, RG 32, RG 33, RG 34, RG 35, RG 36, BT 158, BT 159 and BT 160.

The aim is to have some records online towards the end of this year. As part of the license there will be free onsite access for our readers.

Readers are advised that we have had to temporarily suspend the ordering of digital or microform copies of these records until December 2007. It is not possible to provide a detailed scanning schedule but the removal of microfilms for scanning is being managed in batches and we are working to minimise any disruption to availability. You may wish to check that whether the series/pieces you wish to order are affected.

This digitisation project does not affect the access to the microfilms available for examination either in the reading rooms at Kew or the Family Records Centre, Islington.

For the first time this fascinating series will be fully searchable by name, further opening up what is already a well used resource at The National Archives, and giving you easy access to a digital copy of the records.
