COI non-executive director retires
7 July 2010
The Central Office of Information (COI) has announced that Marilyn Baxter is retiring as non-executive board director after seven years in post.
Baxter, previously Vice Chairman of Saatchi and Saatchi, and chairman of research company Hall & Partners, joined COI in 2003 under previous COI Chief Executive, Alan Bishop.
She leaves to go sailing across the Atlantic. Marilyn has resigned twice from previous roles to go long distance sailing, first across the Atlantic, then across the Pacific.
Baxter said:
"It's been a privilege to work with the COI, first with Alan and more recently with Mark Lund. COI has such great people and such interesting issues; in many ways it's been my dream job and I shall miss it. But my partner and I decided in January that we probably had one more long trip in us before we finally got too old, so we're off again in June and will be back in two years time."
Mark Lund, COI's Chief Executive, added:
"Marilyn has been a wonderful asset to COI, combining broad strategic grasp with real rigour in attention to crucial detail. We'll miss her engagement and her passion and we wish her the very best on her trip round the oceans."
Marilyn's replacement will be announced soon.
