The new NHS Injury Costs Recovery (ICR) scheme came into force on 29th January 2007. The scheme replaces the current Road Traffic Act (RTA) scheme. The ICR scheme will expand the cases where the NHS can reclaim the cost of treating injured patients to all cases where personal injury compensation is paid

The tariff and ceiling on charges payable by compensators for the recovery of NHS charges under the NHS Injury Cost Recovery (ICR) scheme will be increasing on 1 April 2010. The increases will apply only to injuries sustained on or after that date.
