The Research Councils have funded a study to assess the initial impact of enhanced salaries and stipends on the recruitment and retention of postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in key shortage areas.
The report
by the Centre for the Study of Law and Policy in Europe (CSLPE) at the University of Leeds is an important study and has informed the Research Council's submission to the Government on the impact of the Roberts Review.
A Summary
of the report is available.
The Research Councils have agreed a response to the report
that states in conclusion that:
"RCUK wishes universities to take account of the report and the response and draw it to the attention of all those involved in research funding so that the maximum benefit can be gained for the sector, to ensure the future supply of highly-skilled researchers for the UK"
