Launch of Jewish Social Action Forum
Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, launched the Jewish Social Action Forum's climate change campaign in front of an audience of 300 people At the Tricycle Cinema in Kilburn last night (November 11). Speaking to community leaders and concerned individuals, he highlighted the important role that faith communities have in preventing further climate change. The event saw Ed meet VIP guests from across the UK Jewish Community, share his views on Copengahen and participate in a Q&A with Guardian journalist Jonathan Freedland ahead of a screening of Age of Stupid.
The Jewish Social Action Forum is made up of 20 organisations including major communal bodies such as the Board of Deputies and the JCC for London, synagogue movements, and Jewish organisations dedicated to raising awareness of issues of universal concern within the Jewish community. The home of the climate change campaign of the Jewish community online is called the Big Green Jewish website.
