Welcome

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership is an action and advisory group, established in 2003 to take a lead in accelerating the shift to low carbon vehicles and fuels in the UK and to help ensure that UK business can benefit from that shift.

The LowCVP is a partnership of around 170 organisations from the automotive and fuel industries, the environmental sector, government, academia, road user groups and other organisations with a stake in the low carbon vehicles and fuels agenda.

Nominations are invited for the LowCVP’s inaugural Low Carbon Champions Awards to be presented during a prestigious Awards Dinner at Twickenham Stadium during the LowCVP Annual Conference on July 14th. The deadline for nominations to the LowCVP Awards is Thursday 24 June.  view more

The LowCVP's 2010 Annual Conference and Awards Dinner will take place on Weds-Thurs July 14-15 at Twickenham Rugby Stadium in west London. The event will incorporate the WhatCar? Green Awards dinner which will take place in the evening of 14 July. The LowCVP conference has become a leading event on the environmental transport calendar, regularly attracting leading speakers and 200 or more high level delegates. This year's expanded event will offer more opportunities for delegates, exhibitors and sponsors.  view more

EU Climate Commissioner Connie Hedegaard, in response to a written Parliamentary question, has said that discussion around the adoption of a CO2 label for cars has been delayed to give priority for other legislation on cutting emissions from cars and vans.  view more

The European Commission's has published a strategy for promoting the use of clean and energy efficient vehicles. The strategy links the future competitiveness of the European automotive industry to the rapid development of clean technologies. It contains over 40 actions in a wide range of policy fields with the first actions due to be taken this year.  view more

Research by CE Delft, an independent Dutch environmental consultancy, finds that carbon dioxide emissions from road transport could be reduced by 30% if motorway speed limits in the Netherlands were set at 80 km/h. The findings suggest that CO2 reductions of 2.8 million tonnes  for passenger cars, and a further 0.2mt for delivery vans would be achievable.  view more
