Free teaching resources

This section hosts a wealth of free online teaching resources, including reviews of over 2000 lesson plans. For teaching ideas, follow the lesson plans link and search by subject and key stage through TeacherNet, the National Curriculum or Schemes of Work.

Information on delivering the National Curriculum through all key stages and in all subjects can be found in the following sections, which also have links to resources for teachers:

Find out about the potential of the outdoor classroom in Growing Schools.

There are directories of organisations such as museums and charities offering educational support and teacher resources. A directory of other DCSF teaching resources is also available.

The School in Focus area of TeacherNet contains features on schools that have introduced new teaching and learning ideas. Read accounts on the different initiatives schools have implemented and the outcomes.

Teachers TV offers a wealth of resources for teachers, including curriculum-based programmes for use in the classroom.

DEA's Global Dimension website has a database of resources to support teaching with a global perspective.

An international school link is a powerful resource for teaching and learning as it draws attention to different viewpoints around the world and provides an audience for classwork and a partner for debate. Linking is free and can attract funding.
