Construction

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) is keen to encourage key construction industry-wide players to embrace the pioneering "Sustainability Checklists for Developments" initiative.

The innovative Checklist, launched by SEEDA in conjunction with the Building Research Establishment (BRE), is a practical toolkit targeted at the construction industry; especially developers, architects, planners and housing associations. The Checklist aims to ensure that new developments throughout the South East incorporate as many facets of sustainability as possible.

The Checklist is ground-breaking because it generates a greater understanding of the strategic issues aligned to sustainable development including exploring the impact of developments on the wider community, land use, transport, energy, buildings, infrastructure, natural resources, ecology and community and business involvement.

The Checklist can be viewed at www.sustainability-checklist.co.uk
