Ensuring that the Yorkshire and The Humber region is prepared for emergencies underpins the majority of the work of the Regional Resilience Team. Regardless what the nature of an incident is, or what the impacts may be, planning and preparedness are key to effective response to and recovery from any emergency.

Government Offices, through the work of the Regional Resilience Teams, have a key role to play in the promotion and implementation of the new regional tier as set out in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. More information on the national picture

In order to be fully resilient, preparedness must cut across all levels of organisations from central government, through to local partners and even the communities that they serve. For that reason, this section of the website contains information on all aspects of preparedness.
