The scheme, which has received initial Government approval, will upgrade a
1.1 mile stretch of White Rose Way between Junction 13 of the M18 and Lady
Bank roundabout from single to dual carriageway.
The investment will also deliver a new road bridge over the East Coast
Mainline and improved facilities for cyclists and pedestrians. This will
help tackle congestion and cut journey times on this important link between
the town, the motorway network and Robin Hood Airport Doncaster-Sheffield,
as well as boosting regeneration.
A £24.2m contribution has been provisionally agreed by the Department
for Transport with the remaining funding being provided by Doncaster
Metropolitan Borough Council, which is promoting the scheme.
Sadiq Khan said:
"An efficient and reliable transport system is the lifeblood of every local
community. This is why we are committing significant amounts of money to
improving Doncaster's infrastructure - helping boost economic growth.
