Published: Fri, 17 Apr 2009 14:07:59

A series of meetings have been held in Halifax over the past two days involving the Lloyds Banking Group, Regional Minister Rosie Winterton MP, Deputy Regional Minister Jeff Ennis MP, representatives of Yorkshire Forward, local authority leaders, MPs and business representatives, to present the case for retaining a strong Lloyds Banking Group presence in the Yorkshire and Humber Region.

In a joint statement, Rosie Winterton, Minister for Yorkshire, and Simon Hill, Executive Director of Business at Yorkshire Forward, commented;

"These have been positive meetings with the Lloyds Banking Group where we have continued to present the case for the group retaining a strong base in the Yorkshire and Humber region. We stressed that the Halifax remains a strong brand in our region, with an excellent workforce and skills base.
We have agreed to continue our discussions and maintain the dialogue we have established."
