Funds from the 2000 to 2006 European Funding Programmes are administered by
the Government Office for the West Midlands in partnership with key
strategic organisations in the region. The West Midlands region was awarded
over £575 million of Structural Funds money under the Objective 2
Programme. Together with the £325 million available under Objective
3, there was a total of £900 million available.
European Structural Funding is helping the West Midlands to boost its
economic performance and improve the daily lives of the people who live,
work and visit the region. From Birmingham and the Black Country in the
centre, to Coventry and Warwickshire in the east, Herefordshire, Shropshire
and Worcestershire in the west and Staffordshire in the north, hundreds of
projects in the West Midlands are benefiting from the Objective 2 and
Objective 3 Programmes.

PLEASE NOTE A revised Statement of Grant Usage
(Expenditure) ERDF80 Nov 08 has been issued (attached with guidance). The
ERDF80 is for projects (Non LAs) to be certified by reporting accountants
and also for projects (LA) to be certified by an auditor not appointed by
the Audit Commission. The revision should be used with immediate effect ,
however, any completed Statements already with accountants/auditors should
be accepted.

New European Commission reference rate announced for the UK from
1st October 2007
Projects which are using commercial reference rates for loans to avoid
their assistance being a state aid, must increase the interest on their
loans from October from 5.9% to 6.83% for secured loans and from 9.9% to
10.83% for unsecured loans due to a change in the Commission's agreed
reference rate for the United Kingdom.
