Safer and Stronger Communities

We play a key role to ensure communities in our region are integrated, empowered and have safe places in which to live. To do this, we:

Government Offices make a regional contribution to the Government’s aim to build a safe, just and tolerant society, protect the public and ensure the balance between the rights and responsibilities of individuals, families and communities is properly maintained. Government Offices also deliver the four key themes of the National Drug Strategy. More information on the national picture

  • work with Whitehall to influence policy development
  • have strong relationships with regional stakeholders and work well together to provide a joined up approach
  • support local partners to help people feel safe in their communities and to enable these communities to be strong to tackle local issues that concern them.
