Sustainable Development

Our approach is to make sustainability a core component of everyday work and thinking, so sustainable development is embedded in all our policies across GO-East. We also support our delivery partners across the region to adopt sustainable development principles in their delivery plans and activities.

Sustainable Development aims to enable all people to satisfy their basic needs and enjoy a better quality of life without compromising the quality of life of future generations. It is a key government policy at both national and regional level and is an issue that affects every business, organisation and individual. More information on the national picture

GO-East works particularly closely with the East of England Regional Assembly and the East of England Development Agency to encourage sustainable development to be incorporated in regional strategies and implementation plans.  We also have a place on Sustainability East, the region's independent champion body for Sustainable Development.  Sustainability East sponsored the development of an interactive on-line toolkit, to assist in the sustainability appraisal of regional and sub-regional strategies, action plans and projects.

GO-East was on the steering group which produced the latest Integrated Sustainability Framework, whose principles have been incorporated into subsequent key regional strategies and plans.

We provide support to Sustainable Built Environment East, the region's think tank for sustainable growth, which has high level representation from right across the construction sector.
