Public Health Minister Caroline Flint has asked the voluntary organisation Infertility Network UK to work directly with PCTs to help ensure that the voices patients with fertility problems are heard at local level in the planning of services. 3. Director General for Social Care appointed - (Gateway reference number: 6816)

David Behan, currently Chief Inspector of the Commission for Social Care Inspection, will be joining the department as the new Director General for Social Care. David will lead the department's vision for adult services in social care, driving forward the reform and improvement agenda set out in the Our health, our care, our say White Paper. The date for David's appointment is still being finalised.

6. Launch of NHS PASA National Framework Agreement for Telecare (Gateway reference number: 6803)

From 30 June, councils, NHS trusts and the third sector can use this agreement to procure telecare. The agreement will be of interest to commissioners, and provides an OJEU-compliant range of equipment and services at competitive prices. 7. Launch of the 10 High Impact Changes for Mental Health Services - (Gateway reference number: 6583)

The Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP) published the 10 high impact changes for mental health services on 20 June 2006. It is available as an executive summary and full document.

8. Capital Funding for Substance Misuse Services - (Gateway reference number: 6810)

The Department of Health has announced £20 million capital funding for substance misuse services in 2006/7. A further £54.9 million will be available for in-patient and residential rehabilitation substance misuse services 2007/8 via a strategic bidding process.
