About the scheme
This fee scheme became mandatory for all categories except mental health from 1 April 2005. All cases started on or after 1st October 2007 will be covered by the new standard fee schemes, except for Mental Health which will be covered by a graduated fee scheme from 1st January 2008.
It is a fixed fee payment scheme for civil legal services provided by solicitors within the Controlled Work budget (Legal Help, Help at Court and Controlled Legal Representation).
The scheme applies to all civil categories of work including Family.
It excludes:

immigration and asylum
-
mental health cases where the client is sectioned following criminal proceedings or where a provider has not voluntarily joined the scheme
-
family work previously in the FAInS pilot.
