Thank you to everyone who has provided a response to 'Digital Inclusion - An Action Plan for Consultation' via this discussion forum. As the consultation exercise ended in February this forum will now be closing on Friday 6 March at 5pm. The contributions made here will form part of the consultation analysis to be published later in the Spring. Thank you again for taking the time to give us your thoughts.

How far do you agree with the proposed principles outlined in the Charter? Are there others we should consider?

We welcome your views on whether the three principles we have set out for the proposed Charter under direct benefits, indirect benefits and sustainable benefits are the most appropriate messages to communicate and if not, what you believe the Charter should contain.

What should be the brief of the Digital Champion role?

We want your input on the establishment of a Digital Inclusion Champion, particularly in terms of the appropriate role and responsibilities that they should take on to ensure that digital inclusion remains at the top of the agenda. We also invite suggestions of which individual or organisation you believe should be appointed to the role, bearing in mind the fact that we have identified that they need to be independent and also in a commanding position to provide strategic leadership on this agenda.

We invite your views here on whether you believe we have set out effective plans of action under the key themes of ‘citizen and community empowerment, ‘effective services’ and ‘sustainable development’ and, importantly, if not what actions we should propose to take the principles forward.

The aim of this forum is to engage with you in discussion of the main themes found in the document, Delivering Digital Inclusion - An Action Plan for Consultation. This forum will run until 24 January 2009.

Officials from Communities and Local Government will be regularly posting specific questions and ideas on the forum and will be asking you for your feedback. This feedback will be used when making decisions about how we move forward with this important agenda.
