Responsibilities


Biography
Prior to DCMS, Gerry was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Criminal Justice & Offender Management at the Ministry of Justice. From 2003 until 2006, he was Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Employment Relations and Consumer Affairs, in the then Department of Trade & Industry (DTI).

From 1997 - 1999 he worked as a Principal Private Secretary (PPS), firstly to the Rt Hon Harriet Harman MP, Secretary of State for Social Security and Minister for Women, and then to the Rt Hon Stephen Byers MP, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
Gerry has also been Assistant Government Whip and Government Whip.

Gerry was educated at Cardinal Hinsley Grammar School and Bradford College and is married with three sons. Gerry is MP for Bradford South.
