New arrangements for accessing datasets
The National Digital Archive of Datasets (NDAD) preserves and provides online access to archived digital databases and accompanying documents from UK central government departments. The collection enables users to analyse historical information and statistics gathered from a wide variety of departments.
To make more public data available for re-use by everyone, we will be moving all datasets currently available through NDAD to our DocumentsOnline service over the next few months. All datasets will remain free to download and users will be automatically guided through The National Archives' Catalogue to DocumentsOnline.
Further details on how to access datasets through DocumentsOnline will be posted as the data is made accessible.
The changes are a part of the drive to make more public data available for re-use by everyone. The government is making increasing numbers of datasets available through data.gov.uk, and the National Archives intends to preserve and make them available through its UK Government Web Archive.
The National Archives would like to take this opportunity to thank the University of London Computer Centre most sincerely for setting up the National Digital Archive of Datasets system, and for running a truly superb public service.
