Update: Digital Economy Bill Second Reading

A quick update (we’re all hard at work this end) – the Bill’s Second Reading debate in the House of Lords will take place on Wednesday, currently scheduled to start at around 3.30 pm.

For those unfamiliar with Parliamentary procedures, more information about Second Reading debates can be found here. (And for the especially interested, the debate will be live on Parliament TV.)

For recent coverage of the Parliamentary passage of the Bill, you might be interested in the coverage of last week’s debates on the Queen’s Speech in the House of Lords (video | Hansard).

We’ll be back with more after Second Reading.

(Update:  Bill now read for a second time in the House of Lords – ‘a wide-ranging discussion was held’, as they say in Parliament. The Hansard record of the debate is up on the Parliament website here.)

Live blogging here tomorrow

Tomorrow’s Digital Britain Summit will be covered live on this blog with video streaming from the event, summaries of the speeches and live updates via our Twitter account.

Those unable to attend the event will also be able to submit questions for the speakers by messaging @digitalbritain on Twitter or posting comments here on the blog. The best questions will be put to speakers alongside those received from the floor.

In advance of the Summit, and in response to your very helpful comments, we’ve done a bit of work on this site to add some new features.  They include:

  • Subscribe by email – just enter your email address in the box on the right to be notified by email when this blog updates
  • Email notifications for new comments  – tick the box when entering a comment and you’ll receive alerts whenever someone else comments on the same post
  • Automatic posting to Twitter -  if you’re following us on Twitter you’ll see a notification whenever there’s new content here to read
  • Twitter feeds – feeds from our Twitter account and discussion on Twitter using the #digitalbritain hashtag are now displayed on the right

Feedback welcome, as always.
