This public consultation draft represents revised guidance on Portfolio Management and is a joint publication between the OGC and the Cabinet Office. The content incorporates research carried out by the Cabinet Office for their report Benchmarking Reliable Delivery, information used for the development of Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices (P3O), review comments and contributions from a wide range of organisations, updates to the Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model (P3M3) as well as the previous guidance.
The new guidance provides descriptions of portfolio management principles and practices and links these to examples of how organisations have adopted these approaches. This revision brings up to date guidance on a topic that is immature and still evolving. Hence, there is a need for OGC to continue to capture emerging issues and lessons learned from those who have implemented it and to help departments to build capability in this area. Feedback, comment and offers of contribution should be sent to email PfM@ogc.gsi.gov.uk
