Effective Public Engagement
From gathering information on attitudes and behaviour of citizens to creating strong partnerships in which the public or organisations have a direct influence on policy and service outcomes, effective public engagement has an important role to play as part of the democratic process.
This guide on effective public engagement has been drafted by COI in conjunction with the Cabinet Office and other engagement practitioners drawn from across government to provide policy and communications officials with information on when engagement in appropriate, the guiding principles to consider when undertaking such projects, and the range of tools and approaches which could be used at each stage of the policy cycle.
