About ACT ON CO2

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing the UK today, and ACT ON CO2 is a key part of the Government’s plan to help tackle the issue. The campaign communicates the seriousness of climate change to the public through TV, press, radio and online advertising, explaining the link between CO2 emissions and global warming.

ACT ON CO2 is a cross-Government initiative, currently involving the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the Department for Transport (DfT) and Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

For over fifteen years the Energy Saving Trust has provided free, impartial advice, information and tools to people across the UK looking to save and generate energy. More recently we have add started offering advice on how to conserve water and reduce waste.

This makes the Energy Saving Trust uniquely placed to run the ACT ON CO2 advice line, which provides more in-depth advice and support to consumers looking to take action to stop wasting energy. The advice line directs consumers to one of sixteen locally based advice centres across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. A further five advice centres operate in Scotland, and are funded by the Scottish Government.
