Politicisation of research

On 13 February 2007, The Guardian newspaper published an article (The abuse of research) by Marie Breen Smyth and Jeroen Gunning who are director and deputy director of the Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Contemporary Political Violence at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

The article says that the funding and political agendas of think tanks mean their reports need to be treated with care and that the politicisation of research can lead to serious distortions in debates on policy issues.
