Delivering efficiency in local services

The Value for Money agenda is about working more efficiently and effectively to deliver better public services which sustain and strengthen our communities.

The information in this section of the website covers only the arrangements, achievements, activities and assistance relevant to councils. It includes general information about the Value for Money agenda and the measurement of efficiency gains, plus key guidance documents issued by Communities and Local Government.

You can also find the full set of Annual Efficiency Statements received from English councils during the 2004 Spending Review period, which set out how they delivered efficiencies between 2004-05 and 2007-08 inclusive.
