Prevent

Prevent is about stopping people becoming terrorists or supporting violent extremists.

Communities and Local Government's aim is to foster community cohesion by building strong and positive relationships between people of different backgrounds and a sense of belonging to a shared vision of the future.

The Department contributes to the delivery of all elements of the Prevent strategy and leads the community based response to violent extremism. This includes our work to stop radicalisation, reduce support for terrorism and discourage people from becoming terrorists.
