Property issues

To thrive, successful communities need flourishing businesses with good, modern premises.

The commercial property sector plays an important part in development and regeneration, and in providing the whole range of commercial buildings - shops, offices, factories, warehouses, hotels, restaurants, leisure facilities etc - that businesses need.

Communities and Local Government works to ensure that the property market functions efficiently and fairly in the interests of all property stakeholders. It is encouraging the industry to promote greater flexibility in its leasing practices. It liaises regularly with key stakeholders - owners, occupiers and the professional bodies. It is keeping legislation on business tenancies under review, ensuring that it is light touch and workable.
