Applications invited for appointment as independent valuer under the Dunfermline Building Society compensation arrangements

The Treasury are inviting applications for the position of independent valuer to perform the functions referred to in article 4 of the Dunfermline Building Society Compensation Scheme, Resolution Fund and Third Party Compensation Order 2009 (S.I. 2009/1800).

The closing date for applications is 14 October 2009.  Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present to an appointment panel in November.

The deadline for applicants has been extended from 14 October 2009 to 26 October.

Notes for editors

1. The Treasury are seeking applications for the office of independent valuer to perform the functions referred to in article 4 of the Dunfermline Building Society Compensation Scheme, Resolution Fund and Third Party Compensation Order 2009 (S.I. 2009/1800).

3. The appointment will be made by an appointment panel chaired by Michael Izza (Chief Executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales).

Following the appointment process, the successful candidate is expected to set out the basis on which he or she is going to conduct his or her functions and rules of procedure in relation to the assessment of the compensation, if any, payable to the pre-transfer crediors of Dunfermline and to third parties whose default event provisions were affected by the application of section 38(6) of the Banking Act 2009.
