Treasury communications

Jean-Christophe Gray, currently a senior civil servant in HM Treasury’s International Finance Directorate, has been appointed Head of Press at HM Treasury and becomes the Chancellor’s principal spokesperson on all economic and policy issues.

Steve Field, currently Head of Communications at HM Treasury, has been appointed Director of Strategy and Communications, with overall responsibility for Treasury communications.

Notes for editors

Jean-Christophe, age 33, is currently Head of the Treasury’s EU Finances Team. He has previously held a range of other posts in HM Treasury, including private secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Jean-Christophe will take over from Steve Field as the Chancellor’s spokesperson. Steve will retain overall responsibility for Treasury communications.
