Cabinet Office publishes guidance on conduct of civil servants during the General Election campaign

Cabinet Office crest

The Prime Minister has announced that the General Election will be held on Thursday 6 May 2010. The Cabinet Office has now published guidance for civil servants on their conduct during the General Election campaign. This guidance takes effect from Tuesday 6 April 2010.

The date of the General Election coincides with various Local Elections. Separate guidance on civil servants’ conduct during local elections will not be issued, as civil servants should use the General Election guidance to regulate their conduct in respect of both the local elections and general election.
