Brief Description
An exciting new opportunity has become available in a newly developed in-house Digital Communications team, within EPSRC.
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) was established in 1994 and is one of seven UK Research Councils. EPSRC is the main UK government agency for funding research and training in engineering and the physical sciences, investing over £850 million a year in a broad range of subjects from mathematics to materials science and from information technology to structural engineering.
Vacancy description
You will be responsible for the creative writing, and style, for various digital communications mediums, as well as liaising with, and interviewing, various employees to collate exciting new areas and creating an intuitive information architecture for the website.
We are looking for someone that has;
- Excellent writing and editorial skills and an understanding of developing content specifically for the internet
- Good communication and negotiation skills and the ability to deal confidently with people at all levels of seniority
- Knowledge and understanding of digital communications and the ability to keep up to date with trends
- Strong ability to think creatively and act on own initiative while advising within recognised standards
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat
- Have a high level of attention to detail
- An ability to translate highly technical or scientific content to be suitable for a wider audience
- Understanding of web accessibility issues
Skills
- Excellent writing and editorial skills and an understanding of developing content specifically for the internet
- Ability to organise a broad workload, manage priorities and meet deadlines, working flexibly as a member of a team
- Good communication and negotiation skills and the ability to deal confidently with people at all levels of seniority within and outside EPSRC
- Appreciation of business needs and the ability to quickly identify communications issues that need to be addressed
- Understanding of website user needs and priorities
- Proactive approach to take own initiative when dealing with issues
- Have a high level of attention to detail
- Have an interest in all digital communications and keep up to date with new technologies, techniques and trends
- An ability to translate highly technical or scientific content to be suitable for a wider audience
- An interest in science, and how science impacts on the economy
Qualifications
- Degree level (no specific subject) or suitable experience equivalent to a degree.
Experience
- Ability to carry out research and evaluation, analyse results and act upon the outcomes
- Excellent general PC skills and aptitude to learn new computing skills quickly and enthusiastically
- Experience of writing creatively and effectively for web audiences
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat
- Understanding of web accessibility issues
