Brief Description
As the UK’s consumer and competition authority, the OFT’s mission is to make markets work well for consumers. Protecting the interests of the public through advice, guidance and enforcement, our profile has never been higher.
From anti-competitive conduct and agreements through to unfair contract terms and mass-marketed fraud, we cover a huge range of issues. Which means that as leader of one of our research teams, you’ll have an equally sizeable amount of variety to look forward to in your work. Plus the satisfaction of knowing you’re having a positive impact on the kind of areas that affect the life of everyone you know. Every single day.
Guiding and motivating your team, you’ll identify specific areas for investigation and deliver high quality results to demanding timescales. Your work will be public and subject to scrutiny and challenge so you will have a good attention to detail, exacting standards and confidence in your abilities.
Your research background could be in academia, government or the commercial sector. It’s not experience in a specific area that’s important. What really counts is your strongly analytical and forensic mindset – a proven ability to examine in depth the data in front of you and decide what’s significant. Someone who relishes a challenge, you’re stimulated by the need to find your own way through a maze of complex information. And, of course, you value integrity highly.
