Brief Description

As a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, you will provide the full range of pre and post-contract quantity surveying services for conservation projects and construction contracts, ranging from initial estimates through to settlement of final accounts.

Financial management is key, including budget estimating and cost control for conservation projects, and checking and approving payments. You will prepare cost reports and outturn forecasts for ongoing projects, and assist with monthly variance reports and outturn forecasts for financial year-end.

Vacancy description

You will be responsible for the management and monitoring of two term commissions with consultant quantity surveying firms. From time to time you will be required to assist in the selection and appointment of building professional consultants for larger conservation projects.

On an ad-hoc basis, you will be asked to provide general cost and contractual advice on Historic Building Repair Grant casework, and surveying advice to Historic Scotland's Historic Building Inspectors on Planning issues. Occasionally more detailed analyses will be required, such as option appraisals or life cycle costing for larger conservation projects.
