Brief Description

This post is part of the Evidence team, which provides a national expert service on natural and social sciences across Natural England and to our external partners. We have specialists covering upland, lowland, coastal, freshwater and marine ecosystems; geology, geomorphology and soils; access, recreation and social sciences; and species. We underpin work on the England Biodiversity Strategy and on reporting action for biodiversity across the UK.
We commission and communicate research to ensure that we have the evidence base to deliver Natural England's outcomes. For example, we provide the evidence base to inform our policy and advocacy work; we provide specialist expertise to help resolve difficult land and marine management issues; we provide expert support to the administration of Environmental Stewardship; we research the reasons for decline of many species and trial practical ways to reverse these declines; we provide an expert service to support the most difficult casework issues facing our Regional and Area Teams.
