 The OFT exists to make markets work well for consumers.
Our profile today is higher than ever, with enforcement
increasingly to the fore of our work. Which is where you -
and this remarkable new role - come in.
The powerhouse behind our fight against cartels, you’ll lead
the Cartels and Criminal Enforcement Group’s investigations
into price fixing, bid rigging and other damaging anticompetitive
behaviour.
Unusually for a role at this level of seniority, you’ll be very
actively involved in the most challenging cases, spearheading
front-line investigation. At the same time, you’ll manage and
motivate your team, putting in place strategies to develop
potential and inspire fresh thinking and innovative solutions.
First and foremost a leader, you’ll have an impressive track record
in investigation of fraud/commercial crime. Proven ability to
manage and develop the potential of your team is essential,
together with hands on experience of intelligence-led
investigation, surveillance, searches and handling of sources.
 

Vacancy description

To provide leadership to all investigators in CCEG and take overall responsibility for the effective use and delivery of the full range of investigative functions across all cases, both civil and criminal.

To take responsibility for the management, training and development of the investigator group. To establish and embed best investigative practice and ensure a rigorous and consistently high standard of investigative work to support efficient and effective case delivery.

To lead investigation teams in the most challenging civil and criminal consumer and cartels cases and work with senior lawyers throughout the life time of those cases to develop case strategy, identify and proactively manage risks and ensure an efficient and effective deployment of resources, ensuring that all investigative activities are carried out lawfully, efficiently and to deadlines.

To contribute to the wider management of CCEG by participating in the CCEG management team of Senior Director, Director and fellow Deputy Directors.
