Brief Description
Role Purpose
A Senior Crown Prosecutor (SCP) will review, provide advice in and present cases at magistrates’ court. The postholder will analyse, review, prepare and prosecute a wide range of cases, except for the small amount of very weighty casework received, and will be expected to have up-to-date knowledge of criminal offences ranging from motoring to murder. The postholder will have a high volume of casework in respect of advice, review and advocacy, which includes some of the more difficult, serious and sensitive cases. Also the postholder may assist with the coaching and mentoring of caseworkers, Designated Caseworkers and Crown Prosecutors. In addition to their normal casework, the postholder may have responsibility for a particular specialism, such as youth offenders and ASBOs.
