Brief Description

Vacancies exist for both permanent & fixed term contracts.

Good administrative staff with excellent customer service skills are vital to the effective operation of the Courts, Tribunals and other offices within the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). Most of the staff within MoJ are employed in administrative roles.

Administrative Officers are assigned to sections to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court/tribunal system or provide support to other functions within the MoJ family. There will be some opportunity to exercise discretion and initiative, within a framework of well-established systems and processes.


Vacancy description

Duties may include:

1. Creating and updating records on in-house computer system and data input
2. Producing court documents
3. Preparing files for court hearings
4. Answering queries (telephone/written correspondence/face-to-face)
5. Serving customers/court users
6. General photocopying and filing
7. Dealing with numerical calculations
8. Accounting for monies in accordance with financial guidelines
9. Post opening
10. General ad hoc office duties


The successful applicant should have good interpersonal skills and good communication skills; used to dealing with a wide range of people. They should be able to demonstrate that they can work on their own initiative and are self-starters.


Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (at Grade A, B or C) including English Language, or equivalent; OR have suitable experience within an administrative role.



Experience of using Microsoft computer packages, i.e. Word, Excel & Outlook.
