Brief Description

Disclosure Scotland is an executive agency of the Scottish Government. The successful candidate will be part of a new team set up to administer the listing of individuals deemed unsuitable to work with children or protected adults. The post holder will report to the Head of the Protection Unit and manage a mixed team of Senior Caseworkers and Caseworkers.

Vacancy description

In this very responsible role you will act as a decision maker in the process for determining when individuals require barring from working with children and protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. As a senior team member you will participate in the development and delivery of rigorous quality assurance procedures and play a leading role in the development and improvement of policies, procedures and operational practice. You will advise and support Senior Caseworkers, contribute to staff development and encourage collaborative learning.


You must have a degree level qualification or equivalent as well as a professional background or significant relevant experience in risk assessment. You will have a proven ability to analyse complex information accurately and make sound decisions. You must have an ability to produce succinct and comprehensive written reports and work collaboratively with other individuals and agencies.

It is desirable that you have experience of line management, preferably in a casework setting, and an ability to effectively support staff working in challenging roles. You should ideally have experience in training and developing staff and be committed to continuous personal learning and development. In addition, you should be able to demonstrate organisational skills, attention to detail and basic computer literacy skills. It is preferable that you should have knowledge and experience in adult and / or child protection policy areas.
