Implementing the new primary curriculum

Three new members of the QCA Board have been appointed.

The Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families has confirmed the appointment of Roy Clare CBE, John Fairhurst and Elizabeth Reid.  

They are:

  • Roy Clare CBE, chief executive of the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council
  • John Fairhurst, headteacher of Shenfield High School
  • Elizabeth Reid, chief executive of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT)  

Ed Balls also confirmed the extension of Mike Beasley’s tenure as deputy chair and Nick Stuart’s term as Chair of the Audit Committee.  

QCA Chairman, Chris Trinick, said: "I am delighted to welcome Roy Clare, John Fairhurst and Elizabeth Reid to the QCA Board. 

"They each bring their own particular expertise from the worlds of education and culture, which will be invaluable for our work with the education, business and training community to develop effective and innovative ways to help learners to progress and achieve their full potential."
