Public register of franchise agreements

A Franchise Agreement is the legally binding contract between the Secretary of State, the Franchisee (the Owning Group) and the Franchise Operator (the Train Operating Company) for the running of the UK’s passenger train services. 

There are currently 16 train operating companies. You can contact the Public Register Manager at the Department for Transport: 0207 944 6870 or rail.publicregister@dft.gsi.gov.uk.
