The Diploma

The Diploma is an exciting new qualification for 14–19 year-olds in England. It sits alongside GCSEs, A levels and Apprenticeships, offering a blend of theoretical and applied learning.

A Diploma programme balances sector-related learning with life skills and project work, as well as covering functional skills in mathematics, English and ICT. Students follow a coherent programme of study, while having the flexibility to pursue personal goals – whether they're hoping to enter college, university or the workplace.

QCDA is working with the DCSF, schools, awarding bodies and others to develop the Diploma and manage its delivery. We've also consulted employers to make sure the qualification equips students for the world of work.
