Benchmarking guidance on making social care inspection judgements

The purpose of this benchmarking guidance is to help inspectors make consistent judgements and to provide information for children, young people, service providers and other stakeholders about how we make inspection judgements about children's services. It aims to identify clear criteria for deciding on inspection judgements, which in turn support and develop improved services that meet the needs of the children and young people using them.

The guidance is complemented by a summary of responses to the guidance's consultation and information for providers.

Bullying: effective action in secondary schools

This survey, based on visits by Her Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI) to LAs and schools in 2001/02, focused on strategies to reduce incidents of bullying, to support victims and to deal with perpetrators.
