Welcome to Ofqual

We are the regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments in England.

Our work ensures that children, young people and adult learners get the results their work deserves, that standards are maintained and the qualifications learners receive count now and in the future. We also regulate National Vocational Qualifications in Northern Ireland.

We have recently created a new video to explain the concepts of the Reliability Programme. The animation covers the ideas behind the programme, which aims to discover more about the reliability of results of exams, tests and assessments.

The Exams Doctor is on hand to help with all your qualifications and exams questions. The Christmas holidays can be a busy time for many learners with preparation taking place for January exams and resits. The 2010 January resits could be particularly important for some A level candidates as this is the last chance to resit the old legacy A level examinations. After January any students wishing to improve their A level grades will need to start from scratch with the new A level specifications which were launched last year. To help these learners, Ofqual also offers plenty of advice on revision. Hints and tips, such as how to manage your time and how best to perform once in the exam room are available.
