The Children's Plan
Parents bring up children, not Government, but sometimes families need extra help and support.
In 2007 we published the first ever Children’s Plan, a vision for change to make England the best place in the world for children and young people to grow up. It put the needs and wishes of families first, setting out clear steps to make every child matter.
Since then, enormous progress has been made, thanks to the hard work of the millions of people who work with children and families. You can find out how the Children's Plan has made a difference to your local community, or how it has changed people’s lives, by reading our case studies.
There is still more work to be done to raise educational achievement and protect every child from harm, and this website shows how we can achieve this, together.
Every Child Matters changed the way local and national government, and other organisations work with children and families. The Children’s Plan has built on this, to give children the best possible start in life.
