Case administration in family proceedings courts

A 2001 MCSI review of case administration in Family Proceedings Courts. The review's objectives were to highlight gaps in statistical data available for private, public and adoption cases and identify key areas for measurement; to contribute to setting qualitative and quantitative standards in efficiency and effectiveness; to promote good and innovative practice; to highlight what helps and hinders good case administration; and to develop its inspection framework, specifically the case administration function, into an effective tool.

Children's guardians and care proceedings inspection report and leaflet

HMICA inspected section 31 care proceedings in Cafcass. The scope of the inspection was proceedings where interim or final care orders are sought by local authorities under the Children Act 1989.

Domestic violence, safety and family proceedings

A 2005 review of the handling of domestic violence issues by CAFCASS and the administration of family courts in HMCS. Although the criminal courts deal with prosecutions involving domestic violence, family courts and CAFCASS frequently deal with similar allegations. The inspection looked at how family courts handle such issues in their administrative arrangements. It also examined CAFCASS strategic management and its frontline practice when dealing with similar cases.

Guidelines for inspection of CAFCASS

Guidelines published in 2002 that set out the principles and procedures to be followed by MCSI Inspection of Court Services in its inspection-related activities with CAFCASS. The guidelines also set out MCSI's expectations of CAFCASS as a well-managed and delivered service. Available both in English and in Welsh.
